How This Blog Works...I think. What do you think?

Writing in a blog has been wonderful, and I've already had to learn quite a bit about how all this works. I admit that I find myself a little frightened, a little intimidated by the prospect of competing for people's attention on the biggest superhighway of information in the history of the world.

And yet here we are! It's nice that real estate on this highway is free :)

But I have a question for you.

And that's not the question :)

Here's the question:

If you had a blog, what you write about?

I asked myself this question when the thought of starting a blog first showed up in my head. At first, it scared me, and I wondered if it would really be the right thing to do. I wondered if anyone would read it, and wondered if I would be considered selfish just for starting one. A lot of doubts.

But then I started to think about what a blog should be about.

I think that it should be thoughts - hopefully good ones - from the author, the "following", friends, family, acquaintances, etc.

It should also be conversation - constructive, building upon one another, about worthwhile things. They don't necessarily have to be about the Gospel or how to cure cancer every time - a funny conversation can do a good amount of good, too - but it should be good stuff (and sure, "good" is subjective, but I think you're stepping in what I'm laying down.).

I also think that it should be respectful, and honest. Gosh--this one is important. No taking yourself too seriously or jumping down other people's throats for temporary lack of etiquette or full-brained responses to emotionally-charged topics. Approach the conversation with the desire to glean something new, and maybe to contribute something else to that conversation,

but never with the intention to cut someone down, however lightly your comments might be dusted over their face. That's no fun for anyone, and it seems to happen enough on other sites, anyway.

That said,

A blog should be

So, 

now that we got that out of the way, I'd like to talk about how I'd like to prepare future posts on this particular blog. Since you're positively riveted to read about that, right? Of course right. 

I've learned that it can be tough to write about specific topics, to prepare new stuff for each day. So, instead of that, I figure that LIFE itself can be a good enough content provider!

So, instead of random posts about random stuff (which will more than likely continue to happen, though in a different way), I'll try to keep my eyes open and find things to write about during the day. Then I'll try to bring those to the laptop and bring them before you! 

It's not a journal, at least by my definition. More like, a random question and observation fest, fueled by life and its many dips, turns, and unexpected complete stops and chucks in unexpected directions. 

So that's pretty much it. And I hope that this blog will become a safe haven, a place for people to share their thoughts unabashedly, without fear of reproach or correction. Come and share your thoughts!
